After
stunning audiences in the UK with jaw dropping performance
after performance, TAPEIRE made it's North American
Premiere at the New Victory Theatre in NYC in November,
preceeded by a Canadian tour.
Join James Devine and his TAPEIRE
Band in a workshop where they will demonstrate and
teach masterclasses for students of all ages in
dance, percussion and music. Workshops can be 1-3
days, or have a weeklong intensive.
- Dance:
Take Irish dance and tap classes with Three-time
World Irish stepdance champion James Devine who
is an expert at fusing Irish dance rhythms with
Tap dance into a style all his own he calls Celtic
Tap™. Its characteristic syncopated rhythms
combined with high steps make it a challenge to
perform, but highly entertaining to watch. Bring
your dancing shoes and give it a try!
- Percussion:
These classes will include an introduction to
various percussion instruments, including traditional
Irish percussion instruments and its use in all
styles of music. Topics covered will include,
basic and advanced technique, improvisation, and
practice routines. Open to all, the course will
cover all levels.
- Fiddle:
Tunes, Style and Technique: If you are eager to
gain an insight into playing traditional fiddle
you will learn tunes from a wide range of the
fiddle styles, (e.g. Scottish/Irish/CapeBreton)
whilst improving your playing technique, and producing
a better sound. The programme is suited to all
kinds of violinist, be you a folk fiddler already,
or a classical player looking for something new.
