ThOSE ARE SOME MIGHTY FAST FEET
Ashley MacIsaac and 38 other
reasons per second to see Tapeire.
By Gavin Morgan

The audience at Tuesday night's Algoma
Fall Festival presentation of Tapeire was treated
to a most enjoyable history lesson as Devine illustrated
the roots of Irish dance from Sean-Nos (meaning
"old-style") to its transition into a
theatre setting.
The Guinness Book
of World Records lists tap dancer James Devine as
"the fastest dancer in the world".
He clocks in at an astounding 38 taps
per second, and that alone is worth lining up to
see.
However, when he brings Tapeire to
Sault Ste. Marie on October 23 for the Algoma Fall
Festival, he'll also be bringing along the East
Coast's multi-platinum selling fiddler, Ashley MacIsaac.
MacIsaac performed at the Algoma Fall
Festival in 2004, and is famous for fusing traditional
folk music with experimental modern elements.
Tapeire is created, produced and directed
by James Devine with music composed and performed
by Ashley MacIsaac.
From punk-rock interpretations of
traditional Celtic music and dance to completely
original musical compositions and choreography,
Tapeire is the next generation in Irish tap.
Fall Festival tickets have already
surpassed all last year's sales, and some shows
are almost sold out!
